The Man Behind the Curtain
Thursday, May 22, 2008
The key to antidepressants is consistent, continual intake. I mention that only because this week was a bad week to be depressed. I moved into my new apartment, I'm settling for a crappy job, I can't afford food,* and... well, no, that's it.
It didn't start out that way-- staying at my girlfriend's apartment and playing house was as fun as it sounds.** But it spoiled me, and moving into my lonely room, almost empty, was somewhat of a shock.
Last night was the nadir of my "crash."
There was more to write, tales of woe and angst akin to listening to The Cure. I found relief, however, in the most unlikely of places: the girl formerly known as The Girl.
Apparently, she decided to take a break from degrading my very existence in order to open up and write one of the best emails I've ever gotten. I wish I could copy and paste it here... she even compliments me!
Later she ruined it by pissing me off, and I had to cheer myself up, but yeah, I'm cool now.
==========
In other news, I've got a house!
A room in a house!
A basement!
A roommate!
But I've got a house!
==========
I hope I'll continue to fight for causes I believe in, as long as I live, but I think part of growing up is picking your fights.
Natalie looks so happy in this picture, and I'm glad! Really. Filing all those restraining orders against me must be tiring.*** And I have a wonderful girlfriend, a fantastic harem, and a lovely boy prostitute in Sri Lanka.
Sometimes, though, I imagine Natalie and I, holding hands and watching the moon illuminate some impossibly reflective waters. The Idan Raichel Project would be playing softly in the background, while Natalie and I would whisper sweet nothings, and analyze microfinancing.
Then my ankle bracelet starts to beep.
controversially yours,
jdl
* haha, you think i'm joking.
** and disturbing.

Anti-depressents suck. But I gather that it sucks worse not to take them. Either way, they fuck you over.
Glad The Girl can cheer you up at least once.
Yay for a house! And playing house.
Also; I'm researching the decline of the Aztecs, but anything that seems useful seems to be juvenile literature. Or a book review. (or some article on how the Aztecs did math - do I care?) WTF?
